Biography
Dr. Aram Hessami was born in Shiraz, Iran, in 1960. From a family of devout Bahai, Aram escaped from the Iranian Revolution in 1979 while the regime was attacking his family’s property and jailing several members of his family.
In the United States, Aram came to Montgomery College in Rockville, receiving his A.A. degree in the Social Sciences in 1981. Afterward, he attended The George Washington University, double majoring in Philosophy and Political Science, and earning a B.A. in 1983, an M.A. in 1991 and a Ph.D. in 1994.
Dr. Hessami’s areas of specialization are Western Democratic Thought and The History of Philosophy. His Doctoral Dissertation, entitled Postmodern Thinking & Democracy, concentrates on the ethical and political aspects of postmodern thinking and deconstructionism.
Prior to joining the History & Political Science Department of Montgomery College, Rockville, as a professor, where he currently teaches American Government and Politics in Action, Dr. Hessami was affiliated with the Sino-Soviet Institute at The George Washington University, and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant to Professor Charles F. Elliott. Serves as Ethics Advisor to The HEAL Foundation.
Dr. Hessami resides on a farm in West Virginia with his wife,
Frances, of twenty years, and his three children, Sarah, Cyrus and Rebecca.
